From the beginning of my time in this program, my work has centered around exploring and expressing my Black identity. My very first project reflected on what the Black experience means to me, and now, in my final project, I return to that same foundation—bringing things full circle.
This final piece offers a snapshot of one of the most cherished and formative experiences of my identity: a trip to the beauty supply store. For me, this space holds deep cultural and emotional significance. The walls lined with posters of stunning, creative hairstyles, the shelves stocked with products and styled wigs—all of it felt like a celebration of Black beauty. That feeling has stayed with me, and I wanted to honor it here.
My journey began with a reflection on my Black identity, and it ends the same way—grounded in memory, culture, and pride.
